Mascara of the Ancient World was mixed from soot, ash and vegetable oils ... even in 1913, charcoal with petroleum jelly was used for the famous prototype of Maybelline cosmetics! The invention of a tiny brush for eyelashes also belongs to the beginning of the century. Only in the 60s, color mascara was presented to the public. Today, the choice of cosmetics is wider and more perfect than ever.

But still, women are wondering - how to choose a really good mascara, which will not only give the look of charm, but will also be useful for beauty?

And immediately it is worth noting that a big brand name and high cost of goods do not guarantee the highest quality. Indeed, elite brands are ahead of the rest in technology for science at the service of beauty. But they, just like the budget options, you just need to try and understand that "their" mascara in our age of seductive diversity, you still need to find.

But for any carcass, there are several golden rules that are worth remembering in the store:

  • Perfumery fragrance should be invisible or barely guessing, but not "punch" in the nose, even nice.
  • The product must have a minimum of six months before the expiration date.
  • For the test, carry out an applicator on the back of the brush - if the mascara lay uneven there, knocked down in lumps, then it will not be good on the eyelashes.
  • If you dip the brush into the bottle and take it out, holding it vertically, the mascara should not openly drain down and gather a drop.

The latter is important not only in terms of quality, but also because the tip of the brush will have to color the cilia in the corners of the eyes. In the latest collections, by the way, a number of brands boast spectacular applicators with a specially reduced tip.

The composition of the carcass is also to be studied and here are the components in it that are especially desired:

  • uv filter - because the eyelashes suffer from the sun no less than the skin;
  • lanolin - from dryness and brittleness;
  • Vitamin E and A - moisturizing and preventing loss;
  • keratin - Strengthening and stimulation of growth.

The lengthening mascara is distinguished by its special composition. The effect is achieved due to the presence of nylon or silky microparticles in it, sticking to the extension of the cilia.

Optometrists warn - such mascara can break off (especially when applying several layers). Once on the mucous membrane of the eye, it causes not only discomfort, but also in frequent such cases, the risk of visual impairment.

But with bulk carcasses, despite the inclusion of silicone, paraffin, microgranules in its composition, as a rule, nothing crumbles.

And it is quite appropriate to mention hypoallergenic mascara. Formulas of its composition are developed specifically for sensitive eyes and those who wear contact lenses. In such cosmetics, there are no crumbling particles.

Moisture resistance

It is very useful to understand the difference between the options for perceiving mascara of liquids:

  1. Moisture resistant. These are most quality carcasses. It withstands minimal moisture - for example, a couple of tears from a romantic melodrama. You can wash with plain water.
  2. Waterproof. As the name implies, it is more suitable, say, for changeable weather with rain. Removal requires a special tool. However, such a variety is often distinguished by an aggressive composition, so it is not recommended to be used daily.
  3. Heat resistant. A novelty that allows you to do anything - swim in the sea, fall under rain and snow, it is not afraid even of tropical heat. This is not just paint - each cilium is in the likeness of a microcapsule. Ideal for travel - lasts 24 hours, if you happen to doze off - makeup will not be damaged. A special tool will not help to remove it - only water is warmer than 38 degrees.

Eyelash type

Also, choosing mascara, you can focus on your type of eyelashes:

  1. Long and thick. This gift of nature does not need embellishment with special effects of length and volume, the image of the "doll" is not in trend today. It is enough to purchase ordinary mascara with a classic applicator or large and round.
  2. Direct. Usually quite long and thin, so you should take a closer look at the carcass volumetric with a twisting brush (spiral shape).
  3. Rare. The choice is best to stop for bulk mascara with silicone components.
  4. Short. Volume is contraindicated (as is the use of curling irons). Extension mascara is required, the applicator should have frequent bristles, its shape should resemble a scallop.
  5. Tough. To facilitate the shaping of the eyelashes, the mascara must contain a softening wax, for high-quality application, the brush should not be solid.

Information about the types of brushes can be supplemented by the fact that with different lengths of villi it is better to stain and separate the cilia.

Plastic brushes give good volume, but are poorly separated, silicone - on the contrary, and rubber are good for both.

Black mascara is universal and suitable for everyone, but color stylists recommend choosing the color of the iris:

  • brown - purple, blue, dark with sparkles;
  • green - yellow, green, blue;
  • blue - brown, pink.

Mascara base

And finally, it’s worth mentioning such cosmetics as a mascara base.

Its main meaning and advantage is the creation of “armor” for the cilia, which protects against the aggressive effects of the chemical components of the carcass. Still, most differ by far from a safe composition (but this can be noticed far from immediately and not always).

Plus, the foundation usually has nourishing, moisturizing, caring and even medicinal components that can make eyelashes much healthier.

In addition, with the help of the foundation it is possible to prepare the desired base for staining itself - to make the eyelashes longer, lush, curved.

There are two types of framework:

  1. Transparent, light, reminiscent of gel or jelly - for daily use, almost invisible on the eyelashes, does not create effects.
  2. White, dense and requiring skill in applying - for bright, evening make-up, luxurious eyelashes, sometimes as if "false".

And finally, it is worth emphasizing that even the best, high-quality mascara is not recommended to be used every day - sometimes eyelashes need to be given “rest”. It is unacceptable to leave makeup at night, to wash it off in the morning - in a sense, it will be too late - eyelashes will suffer.
