Like to chat in a chat, check email and Facebook before going to bed right in bed? This not only takes the precious time of your sleep, but also harms your sex life.

Last week, an online survey of 2,000 adults was published in Britain. Almost 15 percent of respondents admitted that they have less sex because of the habit of wandering around the world wide web.

Nearly half of the respondents said that, having climbed under a blanket, they spend up to 90 minutes on laptops, tablet PCs and smartphones, postponing the time of falling asleep on average until midnight. Ten years ago, people usually went to bed at 10:30 pm.

About 25 percent of respondents say they browse the Internet in bed, while 15 percent watch online TV on their laptops before going to bed. Elderly respondents, however, said they preferred to read books.

The findings of scientific research on the impact of gadgets on sleep are shocking enough to keep awake at night. According to a recent survey by TeleNav in the United States, every third smartphone owner claims that they would prefer to do without sex than stay without their phone for a week. In 2011, another American study, designed specifically to assess and understand the impact of technology on sleep, found that 95 percent of people browse the Internet, watch TV or send text messages just before bedtime.

Researchers at the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute also found that by watching the backlit screen, such as the iPad and other tablets, you can become insomniac, because this light suppresses the synthesis of melatonin, a hormone that regulates circadian rhythms.
