Modern Literature in the Internet Age

Literature was buried for a long time. It was wet snow. The people gathered a lot and everyone. People crowded, froze and wanted to leave as soon as possible. Speakers succeeded each other. They said that they left ahead of time, not finding their readers, lost relevance in the era of technological progress, that ceased to be necessary, could not stand the loneliness, and now - the result.

They remembered the merits, its contribution to the formation of culture and the development of mankind as a whole, the role of literature in the formation of personality, about Pushkin, Dostoevsky and Joan Rowling ... On that they dispersed - to the nearest supermarket. The supermarket was warm and bright, and most importantly - interesting. Someone else was sad for a little, but soon, with a wave of his hand, he forgot.

The 21st century has rapidly burst into our lives, brandishing artificial intelligence and rushing genetically modified peaches. Accusing his predecessor of unacceptable slowness, he immediately began to design a new person - an individual without gender and age, a non-partisan atheist who believes exclusively in the weekly horoscope and Yandex News.

Having built himself a ziggurat from banknotes, the modern layman resolutely spat on any principles and beliefs, successfully got rid of unnecessary reflection and began to imitate the Roman plebs, demanding money and circuses. For the rest of the time, there is categorically not enough - communication in social networks, viewing the news feed of your account, likes, photos, instagrams ...

You may ask, what does literature have to do with it? Really - nothing to do with it. The Internet takes a person much more.

Here a student can put an academician in his place, and a blogger with three classes of education gives expert estimates and it does not matter how deeply he understands the topic, the main thing is the number of subscribers.

Such an amount of information fell upon the layman that he simply was not able to take it critically. Where is it before reading, and even more so writing a serious novel.

Arguments? No i don't know

An overabundance of information levels the value of critical thinking. Nobody pays attention to the arguments, nobody needs the facts. Content in the era of the Internet excites the average person much less packaging.

No matter what exactly someone did or wrote, it is important how the network responds to it.

The public does not need a man, but his image, not meaning, but deliverance from unnecessary mental activity.

Somewhere else they write books, someone even reads them, prizes are awarded, and they are accepted into the Writers' Union. But for the most part this is a storm in a glass. An internal cabal among people belonging to the literary workshop.

The problem with literature is that it has lost its leading position in the factory for the production of meanings.

Radio, television, and the Internet with Hollywood tried on the role of educators of society, and the audience was pleased

But do not be upset. We don’t miss the times when we had to wait six months to answer the question how things were going. Then letters were written long, and novels were read thick, and there was much to talk about on long winter evenings. From there are wonderful storytellers among writers.

Lifebuoy

It's time to expand the storyline of our story in an unexpected direction. Informational noise in many ways tired.

Obsessive offers, advertising spam and stupid comments tortured, and people began to seek salvation ...

The process of reading a good book is deeply intimate. A talented writer is akin to the ancient magician, who slowly weaves his magic pattern from phrases, images and words. A good old paper book in hand, akin to a bottle of well-aged wine. You can’t buy it for a penny in the supermarket of our time.

Do not drag literature into the gateway. Let the institute of education do this, which it does. Paper editions must be expensive. Literature should become a status sign of a successful person who finds time to read.

A matter of taste

Good taste in choosing books is a sign of an intelligent, educated person. Such a luxury in our time, not everyone can afford. The Internet is simply a tool that has greatly expanded human capabilities.

It is better to read a little good literature than a lot of bad.

We need to learn how to protect ourselves from emptiness, slavishness and cheap bad taste. It is the presence of aesthetic competence that distinguishes a truly educated person in the Western world. Without a good education, there is no access to leadership positions. The new Russian "elite" is only being formed and, unfortunately, this sign is not suitable for its definition.

Objectively, there is no measure with which you can accurately determine whether a work has artistic value or not.

There are many examples in the history of the writer’s non-recognition by his era with the subsequent erection of him on a pedestal by more penetrating descendants.

Literature as a phenomenon does not disappear until humanity uses the symbolic writing system. Consciousness is inseparable from language. It is the word that orders objective reality and makes a person rational.

No wonder one great book says, “In the beginning was the word ...”

Even in the era of terrible upheavals, during the period of unrest and violence, people searched for answers to their questions in books. It doesn’t matter what’s in the master’s hands - a pen, or he knocks on the keys of an old Underwood or laptop - it’s important to reach out to the heart of his reader.

A true writer is distinguished by a titanic industriousness, because working with text requires many hours of monotonous work. Literary hearing - not everyone can hear the music of words. But the main thing is the personality of the creator. The reader, opening the first page of the book, becomes a co-author of the work.

So, you can not worry, rumors of the death of literature are somewhat exaggerated. New forms and authors appear, bookstores are full of buyers, and on the Internet it is easy to find almost any work. The advent of e-books made it possible to carry entire libraries with them.

We have yet to witness the degeneration of literature. Because the writer's genius is inseparable from the era in which he is destined to create. And we live in an extremely interesting time.
